About the app

In one line

A supportive food diary for iPhone and Apple Watch. Body awareness, not calorie obsession.

Short description

Hale & Hearty is a food diary that stays on your side. Log a meal by describing it, photographing it or scanning a barcode, and see how what you eat connects to how you sleep, move and feel. No food is “bad”, nothing you enjoy is penalised, and every suggestion is something to add, never something to cut.

Longer description

Most food apps keep score against you. Hale & Hearty doesn’t. You log meals, water, supplements and how you feel, and the app reads them alongside your sleep, movement and cycle from Apple Health. Its Nutrition Support Index only ever builds as you nourish yourself; it never drops because you ate something indulgent. Ask Hale, the built-in assistant, answers questions only your own diary can answer, like “Did I get enough iron today?” or “Why am I so tired this week?”, checks a restaurant menu against your allergies, and writes recipes around what you can eat. Goals adapt to 16 health conditions, symptom patterns are shown as correlations, never verdicts, and everything works from your wrist, a widget or Siri.

Key features

  • Describe it, snap it or scan it. A sentence, a photo or a barcode becomes a logged meal with its nutrients.
  • A day that only builds. The Nutrition Support Index moves from Low to Highly Supported, in words, not a score.
  • Ask Hale. Answers from your own logs, sleep and cycle; checks menus (“You can eat”, “Worth asking”, “Sensitive to”); writes recipes around allergies.
  • Goals that know your health. Targets adapt to 16 conditions, including anaemia, PCOS and high blood pressure, and explain why.
  • The whole picture, with Apple Health. Sleep, movement, water and cycle phase sit beside what you ate.
  • Patterns, never verdicts. See which foods tend to turn up alongside how you feel. Correlation, never causation.
  • Off the phone. Log from Apple Watch, a widget, Control Center or Siri.
  • Weekly and monthly recaps, plus plain-language reads on fibre, sleep, hydration and the cycle.

The story

Pooja Sambare, co-founder of Stribog

Pooja Sambare, co-founder

Pooja Sambare is the co-founder of Stribog IT Solutions, the independent Indian studio behind Hale & Hearty Food Diary.

The app began with her own gut. Living with bloating and stomach aches, Pooja kept a homemade food diary in Apple’s Freeform app: a photo of every meal, a note of what she’d eaten, and how she felt afterwards. She tried cutting foods out on her own, dealing with the pain day after day, and still couldn’t pin down the cause.

Hale & Hearty started as the tool she wished she’d had: a simple journal for logging food and symptoms side by side. It grew into a food diary that helps people understand what works for them, built on her belief that food is not the enemy.

“Food is about more than numbers. It’s nourishment, joy, culture and celebration, something that brings people closer together. I wanted a food diary that helps you understand what works for you, without ever treating food as the enemy.”

A second quote, the bio in short and long versions, and high-resolution portrait, square and informal photos are in the download.
